Sandy
When we suddenly lost our Hagrid last september we was heartbroken, this was the first time in 36 years we didnt have a dog in the house.
Hagrid was such a gentle boy and beautiful soul the silence was deafening. It was never in doubt that we would share our home with another dog
So when the Clarkson Trio became available. I contacted lesley . Charli (sandy ) was the last to join the group having been homed by the breeder and returned before being surrendered to the charity. On 13th Dec i met Reban at penrith and Sandy accepted my lift home, 24 hours, an overnight stay in Lanarkshire ,230 miles by road & two ferries later we were home in the Isle of Jura. Quite a trek for a wee lad from Ceoatia.
Sandy has done amazing since joining us, his confidence has grown steadily, he did have issues with walking on certain footpath bridges, ferry decks, wooden slate flooring, mostly got over this apart from stairs thats a work in progress.
He didnt like hairdryers , vacuum cleaners or saws any hand or motor, again this is improving.
He’s a beautiful boy with a heart of fun and definitely the naughtyest dog i have ever seen who u cant tell of without laughing. He’s been a graet help around the garden weeding the lawn, gathering firewood, pruning the fruit trees, bringing the washing or taking it out lol, he’s recntly learnt to use the wheelbarrow (in photo above). He talks and groans and loves to lick you to death.
I’ve never seen him show any aggression to anyone or another dog. I can honestly say he’s a very lethsrgic boy, full of beans & my health has definitely beneficted. Hagrid left big boots to fill, Sandy is growing into them with ease, we love him to bits & we are eternally greatful to lesley and everyone at the charities and supporters who made it possible for us to invite Sandy to Jura.
Hoping one day to manage one of the meets and i’d love to catch up with his siblings Ralph and Percy
