One of our Committee members, Sheila Yerrell, has started a “Listening Ear” (Bereavement Service) for anyone who has lost their precious collie and would like to talk through the feelings of loss you are experiencing at this devastating time.
Sheila lost her precious Collie, Henry, a few years ago and to help her through the feelings of loss and devastation spoke to another Committee member, talking things through with her, which highlighted a need for this kind of service. You can contact Sheila anytime on 07794 553686.
We are so sad to have to inform you of the passing of two of our beautiful ‘Golden oldies’, STORM AND TICO, in early 2021, who had to be put to sleep very recently, within just four weeks of each other. Both boys had been suffering from severe arthritis for quite a while, and had been bravely struggling on with the support of as much pain relief and joint medication as they could possibly be given. However the time came when their quality of life, and dignity had to be addressed, and that terrible decision had to be made for them to be put to sleep.
Maralyn and Don, Storms foster carers and Maria, Ticos foster carer are all heartbroken. RIP STORM xx RIP TICO xx

It is with great sadness that we had to say a fond farewell to Bonnie-Prince in the summer of 2021, after an aggressive cancer diagnosis. He suddenly went off his back legs, could not stand up or support himself and the vet diagnosed cancer in his spine. He had been struggling for a while on getting up, but once up and about, he seemed fine. He was on tablets to help him, as his mum and dad suspected it was the onset of arthritis, and these did seem to help him in the beginning. The veterinary diagnosis was a shock to everyone, especially his mum, who only two months earlier had lost her husband to cancer. Unfortunately, there was no choice to be made, and Bonnie-Prince fell asleep for the last time in the arms of his mum.
Everyone was devastated at his loss, as it just seemed unbelieveable this could happen so quickly. Reunited with his best buddie, Ailee. Rest in Peace, Bonnie-Prince xxd suspected it was the onset of arthritis, and these did seem to help him in the beginning. In August 2021, we sadly had to help Shelby over the Rainbow Bridge as the later stages of degenerative mylopathy had taken it’s toll. We got Shelby when she was about ten and had her just a week shy of four years. She was a wonderfully sweet natured dog, quiet and serene – she wouldn’t leap on you like Teddy or her daughter, Misty, but would sit quietly in front of you nudging under your arm or hand for a pat. She loved tearing around our land with the other two dogs chasing pheasants and also loved to hog the best spot in front of the log burner in the winter.
She was a large, strong, rangy dog when compared with her daughter. She survived for a week in the forest in the middle of winter having got lost after chasing a deer; a horrible, scary time out looking for her. Christmas got cancelled that year as we spent all daylight hours out searching for her and all evening trying to contact anybody who could help. Thankfully we did find her and she continued on for another three years or so. She died very peacefully at home with us by her side. RIP Shelby xx
