Adoption

If you would like to adopt a Collie from us, the person to call would be Chris Slater, on 0114 2347440 (Sheffield) who will know what dogs are available, their ages, sex and where they currently are. A home check will be organised by one of the Committee Members or “Friend” of Collie Rescue, unless you have adopted from us before, when a home check will have already been done, although we would ask that you let us know of any changes in your circumstances, ie : more children, cats, other dogs, etc. If this is passed, then a meeting with the dog in question will need to be arranged, especially if you have other dogs in the household. If all goes well then the paperwork will be completed and the dog re-homed.

We ask for a donation for all adopted collies, this is completely down to whatever you can afford and we do not ask for a specific amount.

Transporting of the dog in some circumstances can be arranged. Discuss this option with Chris Slater if applicable.

If the dog in question has a “life-time” illness which will need on-going regular veterinary treatment , or there is a problem/illness which needs sorting out straight away then in some circumstances the bills for that problem/illness will be met by us, (again discuss with Chris Slater or the Committee member who is dealing with the re-homing). You will get a free complimentary 4 week pet insurance through Pet Plan on adoption, but this does not cover for any on-going illness so we do advise that pet insurance is purchased to cover all other eventualities.
